The Hawai’i Chapter of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (HIPAN) educational offerings provide
important links to advancing our professional nursing practice. This year’s educational
offering include the following: Infection Prevention at the Edges of Surgery, Code
Crimson and the Science of Massive Transfusions, Postoperative Delirium in Surgical
Patients, GLP-1 Agonists and their Hidden Risks, Anesthesia Medications Across
Perianesthesia Phases of Care, and Vigilant Perianesthesia Nursing Care: Preventing
Human Error.
This year we welcome our ASPAN Regional Director of Region One,
Chanda Hassemer, MS BSN RN CPAN CAPA CPN.
American Society of Perianesthesia Nurses (ASPAN), the professional organization
for the specialty of PeriAnesthesia nursing, is responsible for defining and establishing the
scope of PeriAnesthesia nursing. In doing so, ASPAN recognizes the role of the American
Nurses Association (ANA) in defining the scope of practice for the nursing profession as a
whole. ASPAN’s goal is to enhance knowledge and skills in the PeriAnesthesia Practice.
